Ordering a Repeat Prescription

ONLINE: Due to the installation of our new IT software, our access for online prescriptions has been disabled via Patient Facing Services.

From Saturday 31st May you can order your prescription by clicking the link below.  This is a temporary service only.  We will contact you over the coming weeks to arrange online access to our new system.

Please use online options where available as the Practice is under exceptional pressure during this period.  Updates will be posted on our website, www.glengormleypractice.co.uk and our Facebook page.

TELEPHONE:  Our prescription line is open Monday - Friday 8am-8pm.  Please telephone 02890 834360 and clearly state your name, address, date of birth and specify which medication you require.

Please allow 72 hours for your prescription to be available in your local pharmacy.

Repeat Prescription Request

Medication Requested by Hospital/Other Healthcare Provider

When a patient attends hospital as an outpatient (or another healthcare provider, ie podiatrist), the clinician will request that the patient is commenced on a new medication, or that changes are made to their existing medication.  This communication is received by the Practice, either electronically, or by the patient providing us with an Outpatient Advice Note.

The Practice will action the request from the hospital/other healthcare provider and will notify the patient when the prescription is available to collect.

Under the Working Better Together Consenus, hospitals are:

  • obliged to have supply arrangements for immediately necessary and high risk medications.  This applies to any treatment that needs to be started within 72 hours of the outpatient/ambulatory assessment.
  • asked to supply medication sufficent to last at least until the point at which the clinic's letter can reasonably be expected to have reached the patients GP.  Consideration should be given to providing a minimum of 7 days' supply where appropriate to allow patients sufficient time to contact their GP.
  • obliged to provide an initial period of at least 28 days for discharge medications for newly commenced longer-term medications.  Hospital pharmacies will also ensure that patients have at least 14 days' supply of regular medications available on discharge.

Chemist Collections

Between 01/03/2025 - 31/03/2025 the Practice processed 3013 prescriptions.

Currently over 25 pharmacies offer prescription collection from the Practice.  If you nominate a pharmacy to collect your prescription please allow a minimum of 72 hours from placing your order.

We ask that our patients do not contact the Practice to enquire if your prescription has been collected by your chemist.  This means our telephone lines are often full to capacity and therefore patients needing to contact the Practice for other medical reasons are unable to get through on the telephone.

Medication Reviews

All patients on repeat prescriptions will require an annual medication review which will include blood monitoring where appropriate. You will be invited by the Practice to attend the treatment room for blood tests etc.

For patients using the new online service, medication that is due to be reviewed will not be displayed and you will have to request this using the "additional request" option on website.
